The young Kreisky

The challenge
Bringing film spotlights into position
Bruno Kreisky, one of Austria's most influential politicians, is the subject of a biopic shot in Vienna. It describes his exciting life between the age of 16 and his escape to exile in Sweden in 1938. Prangl was on set during filming and provided the right aerial work platforms for lighting.
Our solution

Support for the film crew
Only very rarely is a film shot using the light that is available at the time. To depict a scene with the desired effect, you need the right lighting mood. Providing the film crew with the right equipment is an important task. Prangl is highly experienced in this field, having supplied aerial work platforms and mobile cranes for countless film productions. Armed with this wealth of experience, we can provide the lighting engineers responsible with advice and support and supply them with the right range of machines.

Prangl Know-How
The production team behind this latest film also wanted to rely on Prangl's expertise: Bruno – Der junge Kreisky, the story of former Austrian Chancellor Bruno Kreisky, was directed by Harald Sicheritz. The leading roles are being played by Nils Arztmann and Maya Unger, alongside Jürgen Maurer, Simon Morzé, Thomas Stipsits, Proschat Madani and Adele Neuhauser, among others. Thanks to years of successful collaboration with the film production company responsible for the shoot, the planning stage went very smoothly.

Coordination of aerial work platforms
In keeping with the motto: “Preparation is everything!” was the motto as the new swivel arm holder was demonstrated before filming began and quickly added to the equipment list. The order included truck-mounted work platforms with drivers, two trailer-mounted work platforms, scissor lifts with different working heights, an articulating boom lift and a telescopic forklift with the new swivel fork carriage. Prangl's machines were involved in a total of 15 shooting locations in the Greater Vienna area. A suitable device was selected individually for each of these – such as for a scene in Griechengasse in Vienna city centre.

Atmospheric moonlight
In the narrow street, which was filled with all kinds of props, a truck-mounted work platform with a working height of 37 metres and a horizontal reach of 30 metres was positioned to create a moonlit night-time atmosphere with the help of a floodlight. The stage was positioned so that the lighting it supported could achieve the optimum effect. This makes it possible to show a scene in the finished film that transports all viewers back in time. The biopic, which describes Kreisky’s experiences between 1927 and 1938, will be released in autumn 2025.
